Ros Francis - Clerk to the Trustees
I am a founder member of BCRT. Whilst he was in remission from osteosarcoma, my then 19 year old son Guy began to raise money for research into the cancer from which he suffered as he was so shocked that there was no funding and little knowledge about it. Sadly it returned and his own cancer journey ended in 2002. As a family we promised him that we would continue his aim that research should be carried out. When BCRT was registered as a charity in 2005, we were able to bring £100,000 to add to funds from other bereaved families with whom we had joined to start the charity.
In the early days I took on the secretarial role until BCRT was well established enough to take on paid staff. I now continue as a volunteer primarily in the position of Clerk to the Trustees using previous life experience and skills from being a teacher, secretary to various local groups and a bereaved mother to support the charity in many ways. This also includes times of being the office cleaner and much envelope stuffing for mail-outs! I am devoted to the growth of BCRT and its mission to improve the outcome for future sufferers of bone cancer
