Awareness Week 2011

A HUGE thank you to everyone who took part in events for Bone Cancer Awareness Week 2011. We had an amazing response to this year's campaign sending out lots of fundraising packs. There were Bake It for Bone Cancer stalls held all around the UK and Ireland and even one held in Switzerland!

This year there was the new BCRT Gingerbread man cutter. This led to people being very creative with how they decorated their BCRT Gingerbread man. There are some great photos below from some of the stalls that were held.

We had lots of schools taking part this year which was fantastic including Wallingford School, Skipton Girl's High School, John Ferneley College, The Radcliffe School, St Mary & St Margaret's CE Primary School and many more.

If you didn't manage to have a Bake It event during Bone Cancer Awareness Week there's still time. You could hold your Bake It for Bone Cancer over Christmas. You could decorate the BCRT Gingerbread man as snowmen or even santa! To order a fundraising pack just email info@bcrt.org.uk

Teenage Information launch

As part of Bone Cancer Awareness Week, BCRT launched its primary bone cancer, teen specific information. There is now a dedicated teenage web page with inspirational films, interviews and stories from current and former bone cancer patients.

Our teenage information booklets for osteosarcoma and Ewing's sarcoma are ready to order. The information has been written and designed with teenagers in mind and has been reviewed by the Teenage Advisory Panel which includes patients, parents, and siblings; Clinical Nurse Specialists, Oncologists and Surgeons.

The BCRT teenage information booklets have been extremely well received by the five main bone cancer treatment centres and the 22 children’s and young adults specialist cancer treatment centres. We’ve had fantastic feedback from patients, families and Health Care Professionals.

If you’d like a copy of the osteosaroma or Ewing’s sarcoma booklets, please contact info@bcrt.org.uk
