Patients' and Supporters' Conference 2010

Over 100 patients and supporters attended the 2010 BCRT Conference on October 9th at Sopwell House in St Albans. We've had excellent feedback from another hugely successful conference which included talks on The Cancer Plan, the Sarcoma Register, the role of pathology and advances in surgery.

As ever, the highlight of the day were the talks given by patients which this year included 12 year old magician Lewis Fuller who amazed the audience with his tricks!

Kurt Weiss told his truly inspirational bone cancer story via Skype from Pittsburgh, USA. Former patient Kurt took part in the original clinical trial for mifamurtide (Mepact) and now, 20 years later, as an orthopaedic surgeon and a researcher specialising in bone tumours, in his words he "wakes up every morning and goes to bed every night thinking about how he can cure bone cancer".

Here's a small selection of the photos taken on the day.
