Awareness Executive

Awareness of primary bone cancer amongst healthcare professionals remains poor, meaning that diagnosis is often delayed and so patients present at specialist sarcoma centres with advanced disease. The diagnostic process is often a very stressful time for our patients, which can have a negative impact on the rest of their treatment.

As part of our 2017-2022 strategy, BCRT committed to a number of key awareness activities to improve awareness of primary bone cancer amongst key healthcare professionals, including GPs, Physiotherapists and Radiologists, with the ultimate aim of improving the speed of diagnosis and outcomes for primary bone cancer patients. Raising awareness of this rare group of cancers, amongst both professionals and the public is of paramount importance if improvements in time to diagnosis are to be made.

The Awareness Executive will have a key role in the review of our current awaress campaign aimed at GPs and will contribute to the delivery of ongoing awareness projects, including our work with Junior Doctors and The University of Sheffield Medical Students. The Awareness Executive will also work closely with the Communications Team to ensure robust marketing of awareness campaigns.

Special Events Manager

The Special Events Manager will focus on maximising income and building the profile of BCRT by planning, managing and delivering a successful series of events. You will operate at the centre of a growing team and will be responsible for planning, developing, marketing and implementing a portfolio of Special Events, including gala dinners / balls, comedy nights and assist with delivering lab tours for supporters. Success will be measured by achieving income targets within the planned expenditure, numbers of participants / guests, publicity generated, receipt of positive feedback, and the retention of and conversion of supporters.

You will communicate with a wide range of stakeholders to deliver on these events. From the Research, Support & Information and Fundraising & Communication teams to event venues, families affected, medical professionals and researchers that we support. You will be required to lead on every aspect of each event, including marketing, pre-event logistics and on the day support. You will be in a pivotal position to help us achieve many of our strategic goals.

Challenge Events Fundraising Officer

The Challenge Events Fundraising Officer will contribute to the overall fundraising strategy by delivering a programme of activities that maximise income generation and recruitment and retention of supporters for the Bone Cancer Research Trust.

You will operate as a key member of the Challenge Events Team and will have the opportunity to explore new exciting opportunities for the charity. You will also lead on existing events which form part of our core income programme and help grow our expanding portfolio of Challenge Events.

Trustee

We are looking for one or more new trustees to join our governing board. The board is instrumental in setting the strategic direction of the Bone Cancer Research Trust and ensure that the charity meets its objectives. We have a bold strategy to promote and fund innovative and pioneering research, raise awareness, provide information and support primary bone cancer sufferers and their families.
