Save the date! Sunday 8 October to Saturday 14 October 2017.

Awareness of primary bone cancer saves lives. During Bone Cancer Awareness Week we want to reach as many people as we can to raise the profile of this rare and brutal disease.

We know that time is precious so we have lots of quick and simple ways for you to get involved during Bone Cancer Awareness Week. Whether you can spare 5 minutes or a whole day, your support could make a huge difference.

1. Tune in and support our Radio 4 Appeal

This year, we are thrilled to have been given the opportunity to have a BBC Radio 4 Appeal. This is a fantastic opportunity to reach a wider audience and raise vital awareness of bone cancer.

Listen live to our appeal on Sunday 8 October at 07.55 and 21.26 and on Thursday 12 October at 15.27.

Just tune into Radio 4 on digital radio, FM Radio (FM 92 – 95 FM, 103-105 FM) or on channel 704 on Freeview.

The appeal will be fronted by celebrity chef, author, and new British Bake Off judge, the wonderful Prue Leith! Prue has personal experience of bone cancer, having very sadly lost her brother to the disease.

Follow our updates on social media and share news of our appeal with the hashtag #R4Appeal. Click here for more information.

2. Hold an event

Buckets at the ready

Take one of our buckets to your local supermarket and collect for us, collecting pennies and spreading the word to your local community. If you are holding the collection in the street, don’t forget that you will need a permit and on private property, you need the owner’s permission.

Dress to impress

Raise some cash by wearing our colours with pride. Garb yourself in blue and orange to celebrate #TeamBones. This is a great way to get everyone involved as well as raising vital awareness for the charity. We suggest a £1 donation for each person who takes part.

Winner bakes all

Celebrate the return of the Great British Bake Off (and our wonderful Radio 4 Appeal presenter, Bake Off Queen Prue Leith) with your own Bake It For Bone Cancer Event! Invite your colleagues, friends, family or for the local community. From flapjacks to cupcakes to biscuits, the possibilities are endless and we all known homemade tastes bun-believable! Take a snap of your creations and tag us @BoneCancerResearch on Instagram for your chance to win a special prize.

Order your Bone Cancer Awareness Week event pack today. This contains everything you need to put on your own event, as well as a poster and leaflets with clear information around symptoms.

3. Get digital

Share news of our #R4Appeal and help spread some #BoneCancerAwareness!

We will be posting infographics, patient stories, key information and much more across Facebook (@BoneCancerResearchTrust), Twitter (@BCRT) and Instagram (@bonecancerresearch). We would really appreciate you sharing posts and adding your own contributions around the importance of the week with the hashtag #BoneCancerAwareness.
