As we continue our aim to educate all dentists and dental healthcare professionals in the UK through Bone Cancer Awareness Week 2021 (11-17 Oct), we are delighted to announce that we are collaborating with Portman Dental Care.

Portman Dental Care have 160 dental practices across the UK, caring for over 600,000 patients. This fantastic collaboration means we can reach and educate even more dentists and dental healthcare professionals!

14% of all primary bone cancers occur in the jaw and skull, and 70% of patients with tumours in these anatomical sites will seek medical attention from a dentist in the first instance and so it is vitally important dentists and dental healthcare professionals have an awareness in this area.

Dr Zoe Davison, Head of Research, Information & Support at the Bone Cancer Research Trust, said:

We are delighted to be working in collaboration with Portman Dental Care. This collaboration will make an enormous difference to our efforts in increasing awareness of the signs and symptoms of primary bone cancers and tumours in the jaw and head, alongside providing dentists with the knowledge to make accurate and timely referrals so that patients are given the best chance of survival and improved outcomes.

We will be jointly holding a dedicated webinar for dentists, dental healthcare professionals and dental students, which will provide attendees with knowledge on the presenting symptoms and referral pathways for primary bone cancers and tumours.

When: Wednesday 13th October 7:30-8:30pm with Dr Jo Wilson. You will receive 1 hour verifiable CPD.
