In just two years, the Love Beth Special Fund has reached an amazing milestone: £100,000 raised for the Bone Cancer Research Trust for research into Ewing sarcoma.

Love Beth was created in May 2023 in memory of Beth, a funny, quick witted, beautiful and caring 12-year-old girl from Jersey. Beth loved Roblox, cosy nights in her bedroom, her beloved cat Monkey, her favourite teddy Lamy, and making her friends and family laugh.
Beth was diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of bone cancer, in December 2020. What followed was a whirlwind of scans, surgery, and chemotherapy. She faced fourteen rounds of chemotherapy, major surgery to remove her shoulder blade, six weeks of radiotherapy, and countless hospital stays. Despite all of this, Beth stayed calm, upbeat, and cheeky — still gaming with friends, still laughing.
She rang the end-of-treatment bell in 2021 and returned home to Jersey, where she celebrated her birthday, and threw herself into life at secondary school. But in the summer of 2022, just two months after a clear scan, Beth's cancer returned. This time, it was terminal. Her parents made the decision to bring her home for palliative care. She spent her final months surrounded by love and the people (and pets) who meant the most to her. Beth passed away peacefully on 3 October 2022, just days before her 13th birthday.
Since Love Beth has been set up, the fund has seen incredible support and compassion from Beth’s community.
What started with a daring haircut — as Guy bravely shaved off his long locks to kick off the fundraising — soon became a wave of action. Scrumpy, Beth’s dog, completed the Dog Walk Challenge. Friends swam long distances, baked cakes, walked miles, and sold cakes. The team at Grainville School baked for Beth, while Lucy, one of Beth’s closest friends, completed not one but two memory walks.
In August 2023, a determined crew of women rowed the Canal de Midi, while Beth’s dad Ben and his friend Neil took on the epic Three Peaks Challenge — climbing the UK’s tallest mountains while cycling the distance between them.
By September 2023, £30,000 had already been raised.
From there, the momentum only grew. Runners laced up their shoes and took on marathons — in Jersey, Amsterdam, and beyond. Schools like St John’s and groups like Boogie Babies held Orange Wednesday events, flooding their days with Beth’s favourite colour in her honour. The team at Stephen James BMW lit up their showroom with orange-themed fundraising weeks — not once, but twice.
By December 2023, the fund had reached the £50,000 mark.
And still, the support kept coming. In 2024, Rob ran the Leicester 10k. Beth’s mum Aby and her sister Beccy walked barefoot over fire. De La Salle College hosted a bake sale. There were Tropics parties, pop-up shops, more dog walks, and another year of Orange Wednesday at St John’s. Reuben swam for Beth, while Ben — her uncle — took on The Wall: a 70-mile ultra marathon across the country.
Every mile, every step, every cake sold, every pound raised — all for Beth.
Supporting the fund for three years running, the team at JTC has been nothing short of outstanding backing Love Beth with real energy and commitment. Their continued support has made a massive impact — thank you for sticking with us.
Hitting £100,000 isn’t just about the number — it also means raising awareness about Ewing sarcoma and pushing for earlier diagnoses, better treatments, and support for families going through the toughest of times. And at the centre of it all is Beth.
Thank you — to every runner, baker, rower, walker, swimmer, and supporter. To everyone who wore orange, who donated, who shared Beth’s story. You’ve made this possible.
Here’s to the next milestone.
