Over the past five years, the Moody family have travelled across the Atlantic to fundraise for research into osteosarcoma in Claire's memory.
They remain committed to fundraising for bone cancer charities both in the UK and their native America, completing marathons for the Bone Cancer Research Trust and US-based organisation Osteosarcoma Collaborative.
Collectively, the family have run over 200 miles for bone cancer research, raising awareness and vital funds on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean.
Since 2019 Claire's dad, Ben, has completed the London Landmarks Half Marathon and Royal Parks Half Marathon for #TeamBones every year. To achieve this, Ben has travelled from the United States to the UK twice per year for six years to participate in marathons!
Ben Moody, Claire's father, shared:
We are incredibly proud to be fundraising for the Bone Cancer Research Trust to support life-changing research in Claire's memory. Each year, I have the strongest feeling that my daughter Claire is with us as we see the sights of London.
Chloe Stephenson, Challenge Events Fundraising Officer at the Bone Cancer Research Trust, added:
We are so lucky to have the support of the Moody family, who go above and beyond to fundraise for our vital work. The commitment and dedication they have shown is truly inspiring, and we are honoured they have chosen to support in helping to save the lives of young people like Claire.
In 2025 Claire's cousin, Isabel, will be completing the London Landmarks Half Marathon, the TCS London Marathon and the Royal Parks Half Marathon in support of the Bone Cancer Research Trust. She is excited to bring her energy and passion to help fund life-saving research.
Claire was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her left femur (thigh bone) in 2012 and died on 11th August 2016 aged 24.
Why not join the Moody family and do something special for bone cancer patients this October? Whether you're a seasoned runner or a first-timer, your involvement in the Royal Parks Half Marathon will make a huge difference.
