Open Grant Calls

The Bone Cancer Research Trust 15th Anniversary Grant Call - now open!

The Bone Cancer Research Trust are committed to improving outcomes for patients with primary bone cancer and believe the best way to do this is to fund high impact, collaborative research. We are keen to support all stages of research, from pilot projects, through to more substantive research and, therefore, have developed this funding call to meet those needs.

Funding is available to support hypothesis driven research projects at various stages and levels, which have a clear line of sight to patient benefit. Research projects may be focused on one or more forms of primary bone cancer, however, research projects focused on ameloblastoma will not be considered. We are particularly interested in proposals focused on identifying new ways to treat primary bone cancer, understanding and predicting response to treatment and improving diagnostic and disease monitoring techniques. Epidemiology and quality of life-based projects will not be considered.

We strongly encourage multi-institution, collaborative applications and expect applications for larger grants to include researchers from at least 2 different institutions. Projects aligned to major ongoing initiatives are particularly welcome.

As part of this funding call, we welcome applications for Ideas grants, to support pilot projects, PhD studentships and large projects grants. Funding levels for each grant type can be found in the table below. We will accept applications for both 3 and 4 year PhD studentships, however, expect students to submit their thesis during the funding period. If applicants have any exceptional proposals, requiring funding that exceeds the amounts listed, we encourage them to contact us for a discussion on whether this can be submitted.

The closing date for this call is the 24th May 2021 and awards are likely to be made in December 2021.

To have an informal discussion about the call or to request an application form, please contact us.
