The Bone Cancer Research Trust and Sarcoma UK are delighted to be co-hosting an exciting meeting for researchers, clinicians and allied healthcare professionals with an interest in diagnostics and / or sarcoma research & clinical management. The overall aim of this meeting is to inform an exciting, collaborative funding call, with a focus on advancing the diagnosis of bone and soft tissue sarcomas.

This in-person meeting will take place on Friday 12th January 2024 at the Hilton Leeds City hotel (Leeds, UK).

It aims to facilitate the discussions, consensus and collaborations needed to shape a funding call for vital research and pave the way towards improved diagnosis for sarcoma patients.

Researchers and clinicians with an interest in diagnosis from across the sarcoma and wider research community are invited to attend for what promises to be a day of varied and interactive discussions in this area. Patient advocates from the BCRT and Sarcoma UK communities will also be invited to attend and represent the vital perspective of sarcoma patients and their families.

By bringing this diverse range of experts together in one room, our ultimate goal is to identify the next steps and to develop potential proposals for research into the diagnosis of bone and soft tissue sarcomas. This has been widely identified as a key research priority amongst the Bone Cancer Research Trust’s and Sarcoma UK’s patient communities and stakeholders. A joint funding call for research into this area, informed by this meeting of experts, will follow shortly.

Overview of the Day

This full day, in person meeting will include a keynote speaker and a range of other presentations, sharing perspectives and case studies from across the fields of sarcoma and diagnosis (further details on speakers to follow in due course).

This will be followed by an afternoon of round table discussions, focusing on key questions surrounding the diagnosis of bone and soft tissue sarcomas and how these can be addressed through research. There will be ample opportunity for open debate and networking with fellow delegates. Interactive discussions will be facilitated by Dr David Crosby, Head of Prevention and Early Detection Research, Cancer Research UK.

To facilitate these crucial interactions throughout the day, this meeting will be held in person, and it will not be possible to join virtually.

Call for abstracts now open!

The meeting will also offer attendees the opportunity to highlight wide-ranging projects looking to improve the diagnosis of bone and / or soft tissue sarcomas. Flash talks accompanied by a poster presentation will be selected from submitted abstracts.
